International Day of Peace Observance
On Monday, September 21, New Horizons will join 50,000 Montessori children around the world in observance of the International Day of Peace.
The song , Light a Candle for Peace, will start to be sung on September 21st in New Zealand at 11 am precisely, and the song will be sung continuously for 24 hours by children in countries around the world until it finally reaches the Hawaiian Islands.
The world has been divided into 24 time zones (the time zones are not the international standard time zones that are found on a world map) to enable the song to move continuously throughout the world without stopping.
New Horizons children will gather at our peace pole at 10:30 am to sing Light a Candle for Peace. This event will be one of the largest hosted events for the United Nations International Peace day for 2009!
